Description

El vestido de mamá is a children’s story by Dani Umpi, illustrated by Rodrigo Moraes and originally published by Criatura Editora in Montevideo at the end of 2011—around the time antipodes café began to take shape in Oslo. In honor of all the water under and over bridges since then, we agreed with everyone involved to bring the book to Norway as a non-profit initiative—true to all we do, and all we will.

The story follows a child on an imaginative and tender journey centered around a particular dress and its fabric gently exploring themes of social fabric, identity, acceptance, curiosity, and the specialness of everyday life. While we made a few thoughtful design choices, the most distinctive feature of our edition is, without a doubt, the translation. Yes—into Nynorsk.
