Description
El vestido de mamá, by Dani Umpi and Rodrigo Moraes, is a storybook originally published by Criatura Editora in Montevideo in 2011.
Already in its fifth edition in Uruguay and published across Latin America, the book is widely used in schools, cultural centers, and has even been adapted for theatre in Argentina.
This gentle, imaginative tale follows a child whose world is transformed by a special dress. Along the way, it explores themes of identity, acceptance, curiosity, and the specialness found in everyday life.
In our edition, we changed the book’s size and typography, and we also darkened the main character’s red t-shirt to relate it more closely to Norwegian national team jerseys. However, our most distinctive choice is linguistic: the text has been carefully translated into Nynorsk, with “mom” and “dad” intentionally retained in Bokmål for conceptual reasons.
